This a continuation of my passion project "Photography to Capture the World." For volume 4, I headed to Brighton to test my skills in travel photography. As I have discussed before travel photography is a new creative challenge. During my career, I've worked as a packaging photographer for e-commerce sites and as an event photographer at global corporate events. But, travel photography is a new challenge for me. Can you capture everything you need to highlight a city in a day? And create something unique to stand out from the crowd in this influencer world. And do environmental factors play havoc with your final photographs? Arriving in Brighton with a dozen questions and a list of goals. I grab my lightweight Canon EOS R6 with RF 24-105mm f4-7.1 IS STM Lens. Before attempting to capture as much of the city within a single day. Below is a selection of the best photographs I captured on the fleeting day trip to the seaside.
Conclusion of My Travel Photography Exploration
Brighton is the perfect creative town to photograph during a warm British summer. The city has plenty to offer in terms of inspiration for capturing photos and there was even a photography exhibition on the promenade. I've noticed that the more I challenge myself to learn and edit travel photography the more consistent the colour grading in my photography becomes. However, I still have a long way to go in perfecting my editing skills and getting the camera setting perfect. I also need to challenge myself to ask more strangers if I can photograph them. Especially when I spotted an artist working on the beach, it was a beautiful moment that I missed out on and one that would have captured the essence of Brighton. Overall for my third attempt at travel photography, I noticed that I am making progress in colour grading and experimenting with more unique angles.
