Create a contemporary book cover for selected Penguin books. The book covers must be eye-catching within
a bookstore environment while also working well onscreen for e-commerce sites. This is an ongoing project with the intention of creating a wide range of typographic book covers.
Solution
A powerful book cover design using a strong sans-serif typeface and grid structure giving a subtle hint into the puzzling story of the legendary Clutter family killers. Inspired by the designer Armin Hoffman using a 1950's Swiss design style to bring attention to the origin of the story while executed in a contemporary manner.
A minimal book cover design inspired by Russian Avant Garde art and Russian books design of the time period of Soviet Russia. The cover has used the Soviet Union flag colours and the seven commandments of animal farm, hidden in Russian characters, revealing hints to the plot of the novel.
A modern day story targeted at a teenage audience. The cover has been designed with a bold geometric sans-serif to create a contemporary feel while revealing the strong nature of the characters. The colour scheme reveals the two genders as the play a dangerous game of noughts and crosses.
